While hair loss is commonly hereditary, it can also be a symptom of hair-unfriendly lifestyle habits yet to be reversed. Yes, hair loss is not totally irreversible, as long as you know where the problems lie. Learn how to prevent or stop hair loss with some healthy lifestyle tips:

1) Wash hair at least once a day particularly in a hot humid climate to prevent excess oil secretion that can clog your scalp and cause dandruff and hair loss.
2) Cut down on salt and sugar. Over-consumption will cause dandruff and hair loss.
3) Consume adequate amount of protein, iron and B group vitamins as they are hair-friendly.
4) Avoid an oily diet - cut out excess fats, grease and fried foods. But remember, sebum, the oily secretion, lubricates the hair and scalp in order to keep both soft and pliable. Excess sebum may collect to form dandruff.
5) Avoid tobacco and alcohol.
6) Have adequate sleep to optimize or restore the metabolism of the scalp.
7) Minimize the pulling and tension applied to the scalp.
8) Let your hair breathe - don't wear hats and wigs when it's unnecessary since they limit the air to the scalp.
9) Don't cause too much damage to your hair and scalp by further chemical treatments, like bleach, perming or permanent hair coloring as these damage the hair follicle epidermal cells.

Hair loss in women most often occurs after menopause. Some women lose some hair 2-3 months after childbirth because hormonal changes, during late term, tended to block normal hair loss; this is reversed within 6 months. So don't give up. Do a hair analysis test at a trusted hair centre to find out what's diminishing the glory of your crown.
