Tips For Tighter, Smoother Skin

1.Treat your skin to a Steam
Steaming the skin will flush out the toxins and makes your skin feel tighter. Great as a quick-fix, give yourself a 10 minute facial, or you can steam-shower your entire body for a more complete skin firming treatment.

2. Go Sulfate free.
Sulfate or Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is used in many cosmetic and hair products because of sought after rich lather and foam. But are the benefits worth the risks? This chemical is very drying and irritating to skin and hair, stripping away the natural body oils that keep sin moist.

3. Be Cautious With Home Remedies.
Have you heard of these popular home remedies??
  • EGG FACIAL
Take a raw egg and crack it saving only the egg white. Add the white layers that are stuck to the inside of the shell mix and apply over your face. As the egg dries you will feel it tighten the skin. Leave on for 10-15 minutes and rinse with tepid water.
  • BANANA MASK
Mash a banana to a paste and spread all over your face. Leave the banana mask on skin for 10-15 minutes then rinse with lukewarm water.
  • COFFEE MASK
Why waste your used coffee grinds in the morning, use them as an revitalizing facial mask to wake up and firm skin. Mix 1/4 cup used coffee grounds with one egg white and spread it all over the face. Allow mask to dry 10-15 minutes or so, then rinse off with warm water.
  • PREPARATION H
Many old wives tales claim to either mix Prep H with your daily moisturizer or even with Visine to pat around the eye area for firmness. The Visine version helps with blemishes too. However, Prep H changed its formulation and results are now questionable. Furthermore, this is meant for an "emergency" treatment, not everyday as long term usage may cause scaly irritated skin. Lastly, if you must try this ghastly remedy be sure to use the cream and not the oily and shiny ointment.
We all like the thought of saving money and being holistic, however, using products lying around the fridge and our cupboards may not be sanitary for our delicate skin. Why risk infection when there are skin care products designed and formulated with ingredients known to be beneficial to our skin - particularly if the product has clinical testing to back it up. That's why I choose Instante' to firm my face and eye contours in just minutes.

4. Exfoliate Skin Weekly
Exfoliate skin once or twice a week as a good preparation to absorb and aid skin absorption of tightening and firming treatments.

5. Reduce Sun Exposure.
Sun exposure is the skin's worst enemy. UV light damage breaks down the skin's elastin causing sagging and stretching, meaning lack of firmness.

6. Don't Smoke.
Repeated pursing of the lips around a cigarette causes lines and wrinkles. In addition, smoking dehydrates skin causing the dryness that makes skin prone to damage. Lastly, the nicotine colors skin yellow.

7. Drink More Water
Keep your skin hydrated with nature's beverage - water. Dehydrated skin is less elastic and more prone to wrinkles and damage. Another beverage tip: Limit alcohol which is drying to skin. Alcohol enlarges the blood vessels near the skin's surface, causing itchiness, uneven tone and red spots - not pretty!

8. Bath in Tepid Water
Hot water will strip the natural oils from your face and body leaving skin dry and vulnerable to skin damage.

9. Sleep on Silk and Satin
Silk and Satin are better than cotton because they are softer and smoother causing fewer of the crease-lines on skin that will ultimately turn into wrinkles. Another sleep tip: Lay on your back. Sleeping on your side and stomach causes more creasing thus producing more wrinkles.

10. Avoid drastic weight change.
Putting on weight or taking it off too quickly can irreparably damage skin. Skin becomes stretched then slackens as elasticity is lost. Keeping skin well hydrated all the time will help minimize any lasting damage.
